Do something for Miranda Lambert: Your vote helps charity
Posted by Webmiss on July 23, 2012 • Leave a message? / No Comments

Miranda Lambert may be the toughest girl in country music, but true fans know that underneath it all she’s a big softie, especially when it comes to animals. Miranda Lambert’s charity, MuttNation, is near and dear to her heart and now, fans have a chance to help Miranda win a pretty sizable donation to help animals live happier lives.

The VH1 Do Something Awards have named Miranda Lambert and husband, Blake Shelton as finalists in their Couple category. Each year, VH1 nominates celebrities who use their fame to bring about good change in the world.

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have been nominated because of their efforts to help both a veteran’s program-and an animal hospital near their home in Oklahoma. The back to back CMA male and female vocalists of the year raised over $70,000 to help their causes and now stand to win $100,000 for Miranda Lambert’s charity, MuttNation.

Miranda Lambert founded MuttNation to help dogs and other abused, neglected and unwanted pets. The charity helps rehabilitate sick animals, build animal shelters, train dogs to become guides and companions and takes part in other initiatives to help animals live comfortable lives filled with love. Miranda Lambert has adopted several dogs of her own, as well as found families for many more. In fact, dogs are so special to Miranda, that she even got a tattoo to show off her love and support for MuttNation.

If you’d like to help animals have a better quality of life and find forever-homes, vote for Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton in the VH1 Do Something Awards. The grand prize winner will get $100,000 for their charity, while runners up each receive $5,000.

The VH1 Do Something Awards will air on VH1 Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. Central.

Miranda Lambert becomes a movie star
Posted by Webmiss on July 16, 2012 • Leave a message? / No Comments

Miranda Lambert’s husband Blake Shelton became a TV star by joining the judge’s panel of the hit TV show “The Voice” and now Lambert may be on her way to becoming an acting sensation with the launch of her latest video for her new single “Fastest Girl In Town.” The video for her latest single was filmed a few weeks ago and Lambert said “I really get to act in the video. We have live sound and action scenes which feel more like a mini-movie than a music video.”

The video was directed by CMA Award winning director Trey Fanjoy and co-stars the real life fast girl NASCAR driver Danica Patrick. Lambert personally wanted Patrick to be a part of the video and said “Danica was the person I thought of immediately when I envisioned the video. We had so much fun playing two bad ass chicks up to no good.” Lambert also made sure to let Patrick know how much she appreciated her making time to be involved in the video by adding “Danica has a really busy schedule, and I’m thrilled she was able to take time to come to Tennessee and be a part of this.”

W. Earl Brown of “There’s Something About Mary” fame also makes an appearance in the video for “Fastest Girl In Town” and Lambert said “Earl is a true character, and he brings so much charisma and authenticity to his scenes.” This is the first video Miranda Lambert has made that is completely narrative and does not include any vocal performance scenes from the singer, or should we say mini movie actress this time around!

2012 VH1 Do Something Awards Nominees Include Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton
Posted by Webmiss on July 16, 2012 • Leave a message? / No Comments

Three country singers are being recognized for their good deeds with nominations for the 2012 VH1 Do Something! Awards. Taylor Swift is up for both Music Artist and Facebook trophies, while Miranda Lambert and husband Blake Shelton are nominated together for the Couples award for an Oklahoma charity concert.

As a performer, Taylor’s good works include a benefit concert for tornado victims in the southeastern United States and a donation of $250,000 to football coach Nick Saban’s charity Nick’s Kids, as well as her work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Habitat for Humanity. In the Music Artist category, she faces off against Adam Lambert, Shakira, Will.i.am, Katy Perry and One Direction.

When it comes to social media, Taylor has been making waves since the beginning of career, so it’s no surprise Do Something has taken notice of how she uses various platforms for good deeds. She’s nominated in the Facebook category for using the networking site to respond to leukemia patient Kevin McGuire’s prom invitation, which garnered more than 100,000 “likes” from fans. Also up for the award are Ben Affleck, Lenny Kravitz, Matt Damon and Taylor’s bestie, Selena Gomez.

Country’s reigning power couple, Miranda and Blake are taking on some of music, television and film’s hottest pairs in the Couple category. The pair are being recognized for a benefit concert which raised $70,000 for a veteran’s program and an animal shelter in Tishomingo, Okla. Also nominated are Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia di Rossi, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, and Jay-Z and Beyoncé.

Since 1996, DoSomething.org has been awarding individuals and groups or their community service. This year’s ceremony will be hosted by “New Girl” castmates Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris, and will tape on Aug. 19 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. It will air Aug. 21 at 9:00 PM ET on VH1.

Posted by Webmiss on July 06, 2012 • Leave a message? / No Comments

We’re sending well-wishes to Miranda Lambert, who has had to cancel and postpone shows due to illness. “Due to overextending her voice, Miranda Lambert has been placed on vocal rest,” her publicist told The Boot. “She’s under the care of her doctor and she hopes to return to the road next weekend.”

Tonight’s (July 6) stop at the Jam in the Valley festival in Varysburg, N.Y. has been canceled, while the Facebook page for the Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pa., where the Texas native was schedule to perform on Saturday, July 7, says the stop has been “postponed.”

As for the Jam in the Valley festival, the event’s promoters have filled Miranda’s slot in the show. Gretchen Wilson and Sawyer Brown will perform tonight (July 6). Organizers also ask fans to keep all unused tickets and wristbands as they “formulate a plan for refunds and/or reimbursements.”

Miranda hopes to make her shows that are scheduled for next week: Orange Beach, Ala. (July 12); Atlanta, Ga. (July 13); and Pelham, Ala. (July 14). Click here for the country superstar’s full concert schedule.

Miranda Lambert thrilled Independence Day Festival crowd

The Fourth of July holiday fired up a day early with an outstanding performance by country star Miranda Lambert at the Independence Day Music Festival Tuesday, July 3, at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick Resort.

The evening started to cool down with a slight breeze, but the acts kept heating up as the night went on.

Lambert isn’t a woman to let anyone wait for her and hit the stage seven minutes before her scheduled performance time.

A video montage of Beyoncé’s “Run the World (Girls)” was all that was needed to introduce this independent, confident, beautiful and successful country singer.

Strumming her pink electric guitar in front of her hot pink mic with tan high-heel boots, glittery jeans, belt and jewelry while wearing a shirt with her husband Blake Shelton’s initials on it, Lambert showed the crowd everything that she’s made of.

She’s feminine. She’s a devoted wife. And she’s an extremely talented musician.

Lambert performed a total of 19 songs, singing both emotionally-charged songs such as “White Liar,” “Kerosene” and “Baggage Claim” and songs that tugged at your heart strings, such as “Over You” and “The House That Built Me.”

She told the crowd a story about her shooting skills and showed off her “redneck” side while rocking out to “Gunpowder and Lead.”

“What I can never tolerate is a man that beats on a woman,” she said “My daddy taught me how to use a shot gun and let me tell you: I’m pretty damn good at it.”

She closed her performance with a cover of Patsy Cline’s “Crazy” that had the audience singing along. (more…)

Miranda Lambert, Cause for the Paws 2012 a Huge Success
Posted by Webmiss on July 02, 2012 • Leave a message? / No Comments

Miranda Lambert has once again let her stage show go to the dogs … and cats. The country superstar headlined her 5th annual Cause for the Paws event last month, bringing in more than $207,000 for her own MuttNation Foundation. MuttNation raises money for organizations and governmental institutions whose purpose is to help stray animals by building animal shelters, increasing pet adoption, providing spay/neuter programs, encouraging responsible pet parenting, rehabilitating sick animals and reducing euthanasia of healthy animals. Some beneficiaries also include organizations that train shelter dogs for human therapy programs, such as those that help wounded military personnel.

Wade Bowen and the Josh Abbott Band were the opening acts at Ford Park in Beaumont, Texas, for the June 22 event. The concert and live auction pushed MuttNation’s total money raised just this year to more than $236,000.

Animal lover Miranda is mom to a farm full of furry friends, including horses, pot-bellied pigs, chickens and several dogs she has rescued herself: Black Betty, Cher, Delilha, Delta, Jessi, Virginia Bluebell and Waylon. Several of Miranda’s dogs served as “bridesmaids” in her wedding to Blake Shelton last year.
